'Let's go to the pitch...'

'Our whole thing is about creating a global platform for street children's voices to be heard and the band help us to amplify that…'

At the Street Child World Cup tournament in Mexico City, U2 attend the final and Larry meets the teams before tossing the coin at the start of the match.

Launched in Durban, South Africa, ahead of the 2010 football World Cup, the Street Child World Cup has been called 'the World Cup of Hope'. It takes place every four years when children living on the streets around the world - traveling with local NGO's who support them - gather for their own tournament ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

Street Child United is the organization behind the tournament, campaigning for young people to be granted legal identity, in particular birth registration. Having a legal identity opens a door to education, to protection from violence and to gender equality.

Alongside the football, children take part in arts and education programmes. Bono, Edge and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum were present as the players held their closing General Assembly, outlining what they want from global political leaders to improve their lives.

'These are children that are normally last being put first,’ said John Wroe from Street Child United. ‘There’s an enormous serendipity with 'Street of Dreams' in Mexico right now - with these young people and having the band here -  I think it was Einstein who said that synchronicity is God’s way of reminding us that nothing happens by accident.’

'La calle, calle de los sueños
Justice an obsession on the street of dreams
La Calle, calle de los sueños
Love in a procession down the street of dreams...'
